What is the MDI Intrinsically Safe Modbus Display?

The MDI Intrinsically Safe Modbus Display is a Class I, Zone 1 rated device designed to monitor and control hazardous area sensors in environments where safety is paramount. It offers real-time monitoring of volume, level, distance, and pressure in hazardous locations.

The MDI is a self-contained, intrinsically safe display that pairs directly with a Class I, Zone 0 or Zone 1 sensor. It can be connected to monitoring equipment outside the hazardous area through an IS barrier, and provides monitoring of critical parameters such as volume, level, distance, and pressure in hazardous environments.

The MDI uses RS-485 communication with Modbus RTU protocol, supporting baud rates from 2400 to 38400. This makes it compatible with a wide range of systems for integration and data collection.

The MDI is designed to be rugged and reliable, with an IP66 rating for protection against dust and water. It can function in extreme temperatures, ranging from -22°F to 185°F, ensuring operation in harsh and variable environments.

Yes, the MDI includes an optional auxiliary connection for external Modbus systems, which can access data via an approved IS barrier. This provides additional flexibility for integrating the device into larger monitoring and control systems.
